rsz Hour of Code 2015OC Coder’s 2nd annual Hour of Code was held on December 7th, 2015. The Hour of Code is actually a global event, sponsored by major tech companies (ex: Microsoft, Google), and aims to introduce students to the field of programming. OC Coder hosted over 100 students, with 17 volunteers instructing a total of ten classes. These classes consisted of variations of the languages Python, Java, Javascript, and Swift.

Also considering the younger age group, volunteers taught Lightbot and Scratch, languages that strengthen computational thinking. For high schoolers, volunteers held an AP Computer Science help session which introduced students to the course, and helped students taking the actual course.

OC Coder’s second annual Hour of Code was a huge success, successfully cultivating students’ passion for computer science.
