Idyllwild Chamberfest was the standout experience of my summer. I went to D.C. for an All-Nationals Orchestra and Italy for an international music festival, but neither of them compared to Idyllwild. Over the summer, Idyllwild hosts a number of fantastic art programs, teaching music, dance, theatre, visual arts, writing and more. I went to Idyllwild for its Chamberfest, an intensive program dedicated to not only regular orchestral music and rehearsals, but also fantastic chamber music repertoire. Although I enjoyed both aspects, chamber music now holds a deeper meaning for me. Idyllwild, with its unique environment –the world-class faculty, the brilliant students, the beautiful trees that number in the thousand– has given me more than any technical exercise or academic boot camp could.
